Solar Dizengoff

Tel Aviv // Wednesday, February 23, 2005 @ 7:13AM

Ack.

Well, they can't all be winners... I accidentally over-solarized this shot, so you can't see much of the detail. But here's my first peek at Dizengoff, one of the main streets through this part of Tel Aviv. It's populated by mostly small businesses such as coffeeshops, bars, fashion boutiques, consumer-tech shops, bookstores, little grocery stores, and small restaurants. At one end sits Dizengoff Center, a large shopping complex. I felt very comfortable along this strip and spent a lot of time here during the couple of days I spent back in Tel Aviv before returning to the States.

If I tell you Tel Aviv has an "Austin feel," then I'm talking about this part of it.

Also, notice Will Smith's mug on the street sign towards the right. Yup, an ad for היץ — Hitch. One of many littered about the city...

(Hebrew is read right-to-left, by the way. And please, if you know Hebrew, feel invited to correct my clumsy attempts to use it...)
