A nice place that combines coffee and espresso standards with a Latin touch, including sangria and empanadas.

Quiet spot on weekdays and weekend mornings
I go here frequently during the week and also weekend mornings. Nice, sunny place to work. Wireless is fast, only a few dropped connections. Gets a bit busy on weekend afternoons.

Rice Village Secret
Salento's is the best kept secret in Rice Village & worth the visit. From quiet afternoons on WIFI to Tango Weds. nights/ to weekly wine tastings/ to a monthly Science night, you can always find a happening or non-happening to suit your mood and taste. Great staff/ considerate clientel/ superb wine/ quiet mornings and afternoons- but I'm repeating myself. Drop by & experience this for yourself.

i have been to this coffee house a few times. next time you're there, ask for the bowl of mixed nuts (incredible!) and a vanilla/rum tea (cold). a perfect afternoon pick-me-up. their connection speed is pretty good, there are lots of little places for one to sit and use the computer, and i did not find the staff pushy or overt. they did come to take my glass and bowls away, and politely asked if they could get me something else. [i suppose they could have just been being nice after i spent $7 for nuts and tea, but i got the impression that they are just nice folks].

Great Place
I can't believe that some people expect to take up space, use the wifi, and not purchase anything!!! How do they expect the place to stay open??? This isn't their school library, it's a business...they need CUSTOMERS not squatters. Salento is GREAT, to keep it that way, they need paying customers to cover their cost. Bravo to Salento for weeding out the squatters.

Surf with Caution
I really enjoyed visiting with others and studying at Salento, until I was rudely accosted by a staff member there recently. My friend and I had been studying there after just having lunch. We were planning to order coffee and dessert in about 30 minutes, once our lunch had settled. We had not been there more than 15 minutes when a staffperson approached us asking us what we'd like to order. After we metnioned that we were not ready to order right then but have always been loyal paying customers and that we would order something in a little while, he demanded that we buy something or leave. After chatting with other students about the incident, I learned that my friend and I are not the first to fall victim to this rudeness. Although Salento's website claims to be a "gathering" spot, they obviously do not want people to gather there unless they buy something immediately! I always appreciated the free wireless, pleasant atmosphere, and good food-n-drink, but I will not be a patron of Salento ever again. If you plan to browse, be sure to buy ASAP...or else!

Nice Coffeehouse!
Very Cool place in Rice Village. Salento has a certain feel to it..very quaint and contemporary with a friendly staff! I've been there a couple of times in the morning and noticed it really starts picking up around 10 or so..many regulars..they have a nice little nook in the back cordoned off with plugs for those of you planning to surf for a bit..The Wi Fi connection is strong and I noticed many students and office types hangin out..The Frappes are really good and the empanadas are good..a little pricey for the size..but hey..Rice Village..If I were to open up a business it would probably be something like this..nice job guys! They have all their offerings up on the board and there is a lot! I'm not a real big coffee person but I think over time I will be..I'm going to start trying some of the specialties on the menu and will report back later in time...
