(---) RADIO STATION played on house speaers sucks, IMHO ... lots of DJ yakking and 70's "hits" ... don't try to do any difficult writing assignments here. (+) Signal should be plenty strong for the outdoor seating if it isn't directional (didn't try). (------) Now closes at 2 p.m.

Recently acquired and new owners have big changes in mind to include serving full breakfast and lunch. As is, coffee is a bit pricey for self-service, and flavorless to watery, and sometimes tepid at best. Decent to comfortable seating, two patios where smoking is permitted, and pets (leashes please!) are welcome, inside and out. Good, but expensive, snacks, sandwiches and pastries, all made off-premises, but changing with new owners. Friendly, area knowledgeable staff. Generally reliable secure WiFi connection, with occasional router re-set required. Very limited electrical outlets with some non-working. A regular hang-out for some area locals, and meeting site for AA/drug re-hab. No pressure atmosphere here, and do recommend. Great location, and a few free parking spots at the front door. Baby grand piano inside available for talented fingers only. Plenty of free reading materials and card/board games too, if you are so inclined. Clean restrooms without token/key requirements.

Small antiquated branch library overstaffed with rude, noisy and nosey, and less than helpful/knowledgeable workers pre-occupied with personal business and long back/break room absences. WiFi is reliable and stable but often a weak signal. Wireless printing is not available. Hours are very strange and vary, so check before going. Place is now in it's second month of an advertised one week re-painting, with no end in sight, so space is often limited/unavailable. Parents dump kids here after school as a free baby sitter spot, so can get noisy/raucous. Clean restroom, but bring flashlight, as lights time-out within 15 seconds of entry - most unusual.

Just your average Panera Bread, filled with Cal State San Marcos college students getting work done. Very nice place to do some work. There are a few plugs throughout the restaurant, otherwise the booths will be your best bet. Not my favorite of the Panera breads to work at here in the north county of San Diego, as it sometimes gets a little too crowded/noisy. If you are looking for quiet, the Panera Bread at the Westfield Shopping center in Escondido is by far the best.

Homeless people frequent and sometimes hog seating and restroom, (when working). NY Times and SD Trib free to read. Four comfy overstuffed chairs. Abundant/harmless pan-handlers if you go outside to smoke. Great location, metered parking at door and pay garages within walking distance. Place could be a bit cleaner, but, typical Starbucks. $.50 coffee refills, all sizes, a good deal. Likely to find free food samples tastefully prepared/offered.

Just flat false advertising and bait and switch when lured inside. The large window street sign clearly states; "Free WiFi with Coffee Purchase." This is not correct, and you will find this out after you have purchased a cup of coffee and set up your laptop. What they mean to say is; "One hour WiFi included with large size only expensive espresso or similar unwanted brews." If coffee or a soft drink is your beverage of choice, you will pay full price for this and be surcharged at an additional $3.00 for the first hour WiFi, and substantially higher thereafter. Powdered cream substitute only available, coffee re-fills are full price, and a perpetual "out of order" restroom. Cookies are stale out of the bag Albertson's or similar, disguised in Glad Wrap, for a pricey $.75/cookie. Place is undergoing a sorely needed renovation, which costs will likely be passed on to; you know who.
The Little Fish Market

Outstanding un-secure no-password bandwith. POP client downloads are blocked. There are three tables within range of wall plugs. These are large tables, but [on weekends] the rush doesn't come until 2:00 p.m. so they are accommodating to permit one to set up for the period 11 - 1 or suchlike. The Orange Roughy lunch entree cost $13.00 and was an awesome piece of fish ... with coleslaw and basil tomatoes. Not the cool place if you have no money. A bit noisy with terrazzo tile floor but cool jazz music is most pleasant and is delivered at a volume not calculated to annoy. With earplugs, a great place to work on a difficult writing assignment. If you have extended battery life, this would be heaven at any time of day. But ... if you don't want to spend money on primo fish, better go across the adjacent Ikea parking lot to the Mission Valley branch City Library with its distracting weekend and after-school population of squirming children.
